The key to drought tolerance for any plant is a strong root system, which requires healthy soil. A soil test can reveal plant available nutrients and pH level in the soil, which provides guidance for fertilizer and soil amendments. Knowing what your soil needs and doesn’t need also limits unnecessary fertilizer applications, reducing the risk of certain nutrients, such as nitrogen and phosphorus, polluting urban waterways. Customers may purchase a soil test from a private company or consult Colorado State University Soil-Water-Plant Laboratory and submit a receipt to receive a rebate up to $25.

• Soil Test Rebate Application

Drip irrigation is the most effective and water efficient irrigation system for perennials, shrubs, and trees in Colorado when used correctly. Drip irrigation is exempt from Centennial Water’s day time watering restrictions and Stage 1 drought restrictions. Customers who convert overhead spray irrigation to drip irrigation may be eligible for a rebate of $50 per zone. This rebate may be utilized in conjunction with the turf replacement rebate.

Applications must be submitted within 90 days of purchase or at the time of turf replacement project completion.

Rebates are not guaranteed. Funding is limited to first-come, first-served.

Residential Rain Sensor Rebate

Rain sensors are devices that can be added to any irrigation system to interrupt the normal watering schedule when it rains. Customers who purchase and install a rain sensor may be eligible for a rebate of up to $35.

• Residential Rain Sensor Rebate Application 

The high-efficiency nozzle retrofit program targets the replacement of less efficient, traditional fixed spray nozzles with more efficient rotary nozzles. A rebate of $4 per nozzle is available. Installation costs, sales tax, and shipping and handling costs are not covered.

These water conserving nozzles are recommended in conjunction with a six-inch pop-up height sprinkler head for turf areas, and a 12-inch pop-up height for native and/or perennial areas. Actual water savings may vary.

Rainbird High-Efficiency Variable Arc Spray Nozzles do not qualify for rebate.

Free irrigation inspections are available to residential customers. The inspection will reveal the efficiency of your irrigation system and you will be provided suggestions to improve it. A limited number of free inspections are available each year.
