January 13, 2021

Centennial Water & Sanitation District, which serves Highlands Ranch, has named Sam Calkins as its new Director of Water & Wastewater Operations. Sam previously served as Centennial Water’s Superintendent of Field Operations and Maintenance.

“Sam brings a wealth of management, leadership, engineering, and construction experience to the director of operations position because of his many accomplishments as an Army officer, his leadership roles with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, and existing management experience with Centennial Water. We are very pleased he accepted this new challenge,” said Centennial Water General Manager John Kaufman.

Calkins brings 26 years of experience as a United States Army officer to this position, including six years of project management and infrastructure work with the Corps. Calkins, who lives in Highlands Ranch, is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, and he served two tours of duty in Iraq.

“I’m humbled and excited to take on this new role.  We have a team of true professionals who are dedicated to the mission of providing great service to the 100,000 customers in Highlands Ranch and our neighboring service areas,” Calkins said. “I take the responsibility of ensuring the quality of our drinking water and wastewater services very seriously. As a member of this community, I’m proud to be able to serve our residents in such an important way.”
